How to get to Apliu Street
Apliu Street is in the heart of Sham Shui Po, in the central part of the Kowloon peninsular. Most visitors to Hong Kong will either be staying in the nearby Nathan Road tourist district, or across the Victoria harbour on Hong Kong island.
Apliu Street from Nathan Road
The underground train, the MTR, is by far the easiest way to get to Apliu Street from Nathan Road. Both are on the same MTR line and so the trip does not involve any changes or possibilty of confusion, all you need to know is the correct direction.
Enter the MTR at the Tsim Sha Tsui Road MTR Station or Jordan Road MTR station, whichever is closer to the hotel in which you are staying or where you find yourself when wishing to travel to Apliu Street. The correct line is the Tsuen Wan Line, which has two directions. You need the direction TOWARDS TUEN WAN.
From Tsim Sha Tsui station it is 5 stops until the Sham Shui Po MTR station where you get off the train.
Leave the station by Exit C1 which takes you out directly onto Apliu Street apposite the Apliu Street Public Toilets. The main parts of the flea market are equally to your left and right as you exit the MTR, while the piece goods shops are to you left at the end of the road.
At the end of the road to the right is the Dragon Centre, an indoor shopping arcade or mall with restaurants and ordinary shops.
Apliu Street from Hong Kong Island
To reach Apliu Street from Hong Kong Island a similar route can be taken using the MTR. From anywhere on the island take the Island line towards Admiralty station where you can chance to the Tsuen Wan Line and proceed as for above.
If you are already in Admiralty or Central then you can get onto the Tsuen Wan Line directly.
By Bus from Causeway Bay
If you are on Hong Kong island in Causeway Bay or anywhere more easterly such as Quarry Bay or North Point then there is a good route available via bus which, because it takes the Cross Harbour tunnel is quite direct.
Catch bus number 112 outside the Hong Kong Central Library and take it 10 stops to the Maple Street stop, which is directly outside the Maple Street Recreation Ground. At this point you are near the far southern part of Apliu Street and can examine some of the piece goods shops before walking north to the main part of the flea market.
The bus costs HK$9.30 per person and runs at least every 10 minutes, more frequently during busy times.
However note that the Cross harbour tunnel is very congested during rush hours and this may make the trip longer.
Apliu Street from the Airport
Bus from the Airport
Get on the E21 bus at the airport bus station and get off 19 stops later at Yen Chow Street, Cheung Sha Wan Road. You need only walk to the traffic lights to cross the road and walk one block to be at the north end of Apliu Street at the entrance to the flea market.
The trip costs HK$14 and runs every 15 to 20 minutes for most of the day.
Due to the large number of stops the bus trip can take more than one hour.
Train from the Airport
Alternatively you can take the train. First get the airport express from the airport towards Hong Kong as far as Tsing Yi, there change to the Tung Chong line towards Hong Kong as far as Lai King, then change to the Tsuen Wan line towards Central and travel as far as Sham Shui Po.
Exit the Sham Shui Po MTR station at exit C1
