Apliu Street in Shamshuipo, Kowloon

We all know that we Chinese people are famous for enjoying our food, both meals and snacks. And just because we are shopping is no reason to stop snacking! Along Apliu Street you will find several small shops selling snacks to take away and eat while you browse the many stalls.

Here we see two very traditional snacks made with a rich egg based batter, on the left is waffles and on the right are "little eggs" or " ้›ž่›‹ไป”" or sometimes "Eggette".

Nobody remembers where these gai daan jai came from, but they are in the memory of young and old and they are made with a special batter much richer than typical egg waffles in other countries.

Eat the egg waffles hot and fresh, they are made to order and are best eaten while still warm. Served in a brown paper bag to stop them from going soft you tear off the individual eggs and eat or share with your companion!

Flea market and Piece Goods

The Electronics Flea Market and the Piece goods shops are the most famous parts of Aplui Street, but this important street has a long history and even now is home to a vibrant community.

Look out for the photography equipment shops, and spend some time in the public sitting out areas.

Finally don't miss all the nearby attractions.
